Read ahead for a quick & easy-to-follow comparison that will help you choose the best Cricut Machine for your projects.

What is a Cricut Machine?

So maybe you’ve heard of Cricut but you’re still wondering: what exactly does it do and how does it work?

To put it simply, a Cricut is a smart electronic cutting machine. It can cut and draw shapes on a range of materials including paper, vinyl, fabric, and even wood.

Each model has many exciting features which make crafting even more interesting. Plus, it cuts down the time you spend cutting and shaping your materials the traditional way.

The Cricut Maker 3 & Cricut Maker cut just about anything you’ll need for your craft projects! The possibilities are endless with this machine.

Cricut Explore & Explore Air

The Cricut Explore & Explore Air range is great for crafting most things. But, they don’t cut with as much pressure as the Cricut Maker Machines & they’re also not great at cutting glossy materials. You can’t cut wood, un-bonded fabric, or leather either.

Cricut Joy

The Cricut Joy is a fantastic option but it limits your ability to cut big designs in one go & it won’t cut any thick materials. But, it’s great for small crafts like Pantry Labels & Gift Tags.

Should I Buy the Cricut Joy or the Cricut Explore?

Price-wise, the Joy is a great entry-level machine. But, the Explore will allow you to get started on crafting loads of items and won’t limit the size of your designs. Just remember though… you’re slightly limited on what materials you can cut on these two machines compared to the Cricut Maker.

Should you get the Cricut Explore or Cricut Maker?

If you can guarantee you won’t be cutting un-bonded fabrics, wood, or leather, you might just be fine with the Explore. Maybe even the Cricut Joy if you’re only doing small things like Pantry Labels.

However, if you’ll be working with more materials eventually, it may be worth considering buying the Cricut Maker from the get-go. The extra cost will save you from having to upgrade later.

Do I Buy a Bundle or Just the Machine?

It depends on what bundle you’re looking at & how much you can find your chosen machine for. There really is no straightforward answer here. Only you can decide whether you’ll want to craft with tools later on.
